Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 Lacks Certain Features of the Older Inspiron 14 7445 Model

If you’re someone who values USB ports and SD card readers, you might want to hold onto last year’s Inspiron 14 7445 2-in-1 before jumping to its successor, the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1. While you might expect the latest model to surpass its predecessor in every way, that’s not necessarily the case.

The Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 has officially rolled out to take the place of the 2024 Inspiron 14 7445 2-in-1 and 7440 2-in-1. Ideally, a new model would retain its predecessor’s popular features while adding new innovations. However, the 2025 model sees the removal of a few key elements.

Notably, the Inspiron 14 7445 2-in-1 had an SD card reader and a second USB-A port, both of which are absent in the newer version. This could be a drawback for those who often use card readers for file transfers. Additionally, the new model doesn’t allow for RAM upgrades since it lacks removable memory slots, a feature available in the 2024 edition.

You might wonder if these sacrifices make the system lighter or quicker. Unfortunately, both the 2024 and 2025 models weigh approximately 1.6 kg, offering similar processor performance. On the bright side, the 2025 version does come with a larger battery pack, expanding from 54 Wh to 64 Wh, potentially improving battery life.

For users interested in AI capabilities, the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 does feature AI acceleration with the Ryzen AI 7 350. Yet, for everyday tasks like browsing, spreadsheets, light editing, and video streaming, the speed enhancements of the newer model are only slight.

As you decide whether to invest in the latest release, consider what features are most important to your daily tech needs. If you’re intrigued about how these models stack up in detail, more comparisons and benchmarks are available in our review of the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1.
