CD Projekt Red has just unveiled the system requirements for playing Cyberpunk 2077 on macOS, and they’re pretty demanding. If you’re aiming for a smooth 60 FPS gameplay without ray tracing, you’ll need an Apple M3 Pro or better.
Starting tomorrow, Mac users can dive into the world of Cyberpunk 2077, but getting the game to run smoothly involves some high-end specs. With an Apple M1 chip and 16 GB of RAM, you can expect around 30 FPS at a resolution of 900p. If you’re targeting 60 FPS, the recommended setup includes an Apple M3 Pro alongside 18 GB of RAM, enabling you to enjoy the game at 1080p.
For those seeking even higher fidelity gaming, the system demands ramp up significantly. Achieving 1440p on ‘High Fidelity’ requires an M2 Ultra or M3 Max, while ‘Very High Fidelity’ will push you to an M3 Ultra or M4 Max, with both setups demanding 32 GB of memory.
Ray tracing, while an enticing feature, is turned off by default and can impact performance. For a 1080p experience with ray tracing, an Apple M3 Pro will deliver 30 FPS, whereas the M3 Max can manage 60 FPS. This is possible with the help of MetalFX DRS.
Interestingly, the game’s size varies depending on where you buy it. If purchased through Steam, GOG, or Epic Games, it takes up 92 GB of space. However, opting for the App Store version will require a massive 159 GB due to the inclusion of all language packs. If you’re mindful of storage, consider third-party platforms to save space.
Dive into Cyberpunk 2077 on macOS and experience the vibrant world—and remember, the right hardware makes all the difference!
