CD Projekt Red has put the rumors to bed: Cyberpunk 2077 is officially finished when it comes to new content. If you’ve been holding out hope for a surprise DLC or another full expansion after Phantom Liberty, the studio has now confirmed that nothing else is in the pipeline.
The timing of this clarification isn’t random. Cyberpunk 2077 recently arrived on Xbox Game Pass more than five years after the game first launched, and that move reignited speculation across the community. Some players connected the dots between the Game Pass release and earlier chatter about a potential second expansion. While nothing had been formally announced, vague teasers and ongoing discussion kept expectations alive.
That changed after a straightforward exchange on X. Under the Game Pass announcement, a user asked the studio when the “secret new DLC” was coming. CD Projekt Red responded clearly: there are no plans for additional DLCs or expansions for Cyberpunk 2077. The studio added that if anything changes, they’ll let everyone know—but for now, this is the final word. For fans, it means any new adventures in Night City won’t come through Cyberpunk 2077 content drops.
Phantom Liberty, released in September 2023, was the game’s big final expansion. It delivered a sizable new story arc along with additional missions and side quests, giving players a substantial reason to return. After that launch, CD Projekt Red continued supporting the game through patches designed to improve performance and polish the overall experience. Those updates also brought new extras, including CrystalCoat vehicle paint jobs and an enhanced photo mode for capturing Night City at its best.
That post-expansion support has now reached its endpoint as well. Patch 2.3, released in July last year, is described as the final update—marking the end of the long turnaround arc that reshaped Cyberpunk 2077 from its rocky start into a far more stable and feature-rich RPG.
So what’s next for the Cyberpunk universe? The focus has shifted to the sequel, commonly referred to as Cyberpunk 2. The project is in development, and CD Projekt Red has indicated that building the next entry on schedule will require a much larger team—estimated at roughly 350 to 500 developers to meet timelines and avoid delays. While some rumors claim the next game may include online multiplayer, the clearest detail so far comes from Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith, who has suggested the new setting will have a “Chicago gone wrong” vibe.
For now, the message is simple: Cyberpunk 2077 content is complete. If you’re looking for the next big chapter, it won’t be another DLC—it’ll be the sequel, and it’s still years away.
