Concord Shuts Down 2 Weeks Post-Launch; Refunds to All Customers

In a surprising move, Concord’s developers have decided to shut down the game’s servers just two weeks after its release. Fans who eagerly jumped into this multiplayer hero shooter, which launched on PlayStation and PC on August 23, will find themselves unable to play the game after September 6. The silver lining? Players are eligible for a full refund, as confirmed by Sony.

The developers have expressed their gratitude to the dedicated Concord community in an announcement. They’ve been paying close attention to player feedback since the game’s launch and appreciate the support that has grown around their title. However, they acknowledged that while some aspects of the game were well-received, others fell short of expectations. As a result, they’ve made the tough decision to take the game offline starting September 6 and reassess their approach to better serve players in the future.

Effective immediately, Concord is no longer available for purchase, and the process of issuing refunds has begun. If you bought the game for PlayStation 5 through the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct, expect a refund to be issued to your original payment method. This goes for other digital storefronts as well, including Steam and the Epic Games Store. Detailed instructions for claiming your refund on these platforms are available, and confirmation emails will be sent once the refunds are processed.

For those who purchased a physical copy from a retailer, you’ll need to follow the specific refund process of the store where you made your purchase. Once the refund is processed, access to the game will be revoked.

The developers promise to provide updates as they explore the game’s future. Despite the current setbacks, they express their heartfelt thanks to the player community, known as Freegunners, for their support and participation in the Concord galaxy.

Sony has mentioned they are exploring various options for the game’s future. However, things are looking bleak, as evidenced by a mere 24-hour peak of 103 players on Steam as of September 3.

Concord remains technically available for Windows PC via Steam and PlayStation 5, but only until the September 6 shutdown. If you were considering diving into this hero shooter, you’ll want to make other plans—or keep an eye out for potential future developments.
