When tested in a high-end AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 model featuring 16 compute units and a high clock speed of 2900 MHz, the Radeon 890M was configured at 17W despite its default running of up to 60W. Conversely, the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, featuring the same number of Xe-cores as the flagship 185H but at a lower clock speed, was compared under a 28W configuration.

Gaming Tests Reveal The Superiority of Radeon 890M

In a series of gaming tests conducted at a resolution of 1080p, the Radeon 890M iGPU consistently outperformed the Arc Xe-LPG iGPU. For instance, it achieved 50-70 frames per second (FPS) in the game “Tomb Raider” (2013), which is a 40-60% boost over the Intel alternative. In “Resident Evil 6”, it surpassed 60 FPS, occasionally hitting above 100 FPS, indicating a 20-30% advantage.

Even in more demanding titles, like “Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice” and “Cyberpunk 2077,” the AMD iGPU maintained a steady frame rate, providing smoother gameplay and a 20-25% and 40-50% performance uplift, respectively, over the Intel iGPU. Moreover, “God of War” ran at about 40 FPS on the AMD iGPU, registering a 30-40% faster performance compared to the Intel counterpart.

Despite the surprising results at only 16-17W, AMD’s Radeon 890M showed signs of stuttering in some tests, which could potentially be fixed with future driver updates. Throughout the testing, the power consumption and clock speeds were noted, with the Radeon 890M often dipping to 16W with a clock range between 1.0 to 1.5 GHz, compared to Intel’s constant 1.6 to 2.25 GHz clock range.
