Citizen Introduces the 39mm Series 8 Automatic With Caliber 9051 to the U.S.

Citizen is expanding its Series 8 presence in the United States with a new, dressier automatic model that leans into classic styling while keeping the modern, compact sizing fans have been asking for. The Citizen Series 8 NB6085-57W brings a slimmer 39mm case, a refined two-tone integrated bracelet, and the brand’s in-house Caliber 9051 automatic movement—making it one of the most polished Series 8 options now available stateside.

This release follows Citizen’s recent update to the Series 8 mechanical lineup, which introduced four new models built around trimmer 39mm cases. Those refreshed models debuted in Japan first, but the NB6085-57W is now arriving in the US as a standout pick for anyone who wants the Series 8 platform in a more traditional, everyday-luxury package.

Where a recent US launch focused on sportier details like an inner rotating bezel and a polyurethane strap, the NB6085-57W takes the opposite route. It pairs stainless steel with elegant two-tone finishing and an integrated bracelet designed to look sharp whether you’re wearing it with business attire or casual staples.

Design is the big story here. The 39mm case is finished with yellow gold-tone surfaces and rose gold-tone accents, creating a more layered look than a typical two-tone watch. The bracelet continues that theme, with brushed outer links contrasted by polished center links for added shine and visual depth.

Citizen also gives the dial a distinctive character. It features a textured geometric pattern inspired by traditional Japanese ichimatsu (a checkered motif), along with a gold-tone base, rose-gold indices and hands, and a date window positioned at 3 o’clock. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial to improve clarity in bright light, while an exhibition caseback offers a view of the movement in action. On the wrist, the watch is designed to stay comfortable and sleek, measuring about 10.4mm thick and weighing 147 grams with the bracelet.

Inside, the NB6085-57W runs on Citizen’s Caliber 9051 automatic movement. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, delivers an estimated 42-hour power reserve, and is rated for accuracy between +20 and -10 seconds per day. Citizen positions the 9051 as a step up in performance and reliability compared to its standard mechanical offerings, and it also includes magnetic resistance up to 16,000 A/m—an increasingly valuable feature for real-world daily wear around electronics and magnetic fields.

Pricing in the US is set at $1,295. The Citizen Series 8 NB6085-57W is available through Citizen’s online store and select authorized retailers, offering buyers a new option that blends Japanese-inspired dial design, modern case proportions, and a more elevated two-tone finish in a single automatic watch.
