China’s Debut High-End Gaming GPU, the Lisuan G100, Shines Past NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 in Benchmarks

Chinese GPU manufacturers have been making remarkable progress, and now they’ve achieved a breakthrough in the consumer GPU sector, directly competing with NVIDIA’s well-known mainstream GPUs.

The Lisuan G100 GPU is turning heads as it challenges NVIDIA’s top-rated mainstream alternatives in early benchmarks. Companies like Moore Threads and BirenTech have been working hard to offer competitive consumer GPUs in China, aiming to reduce the dominance of giants like AMD and NVIDIA.

Although previous efforts fell short, Lisuan Technology has now developed a consumer GPU that reportedly outperformed NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 in OpenCL benchmarks. It only slightly trails the latest “Blackwell-based” GeForce RTX 5060, marking a significant step forward in gaming GPU technology.

Using AMD’s Ryzen 5 7600 processor, the Lisuan G100 GPU achieved 111,290 points in OpenCL tests, surpassing the GeForce RTX 4060. This is particularly noteworthy since the G100 hasn’t yet reached retail markets. Previously, the G100 couldn’t surpass the decade-old NVIDIA GTX 660 Ti, highlighting the rapid progress the team has made.

A common challenge for Chinese-made GPUs has been unoptimized drivers. However, Lisuan Technology seems to have developed an efficient software system, as indicated by the OpenCL testing.

In terms of specs, the Lisuan G100 includes 12GB of VRAM, likely GDDR6, 48 compute units, and can reach a maximum frequency of 2000 MHz. It’s built on a 6nm silicon process, likely from SMIC, showcasing reliance on domestic technologies.

This development represents a significant achievement in China’s consumer GPU industry. If the G100 becomes widely available, it could have a substantial impact on mainstream markets.
