CD Projekt Red’s Fortune Grows as Anticipation Builds for The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red Posts Strong 2026 Earnings as The Witcher 4 Hype Builds

CD Projekt Red is entering the next stage of its growth story with serious financial momentum. The Polish game developer has reported a strong first half of 2026, showing that its biggest franchises, The Witcher and Cyberpunk, are still generating impressive revenue while fans wait for the studio’s next major releases.

For the first six months of 2026, CD Projekt Red recorded revenue of PLN 435 million, or about $116.4 million. That represents a 23% increase compared with the same period last year. Net profit climbed even faster, rising 37% year over year to PLN 249 million, roughly $66.6 million.

The company’s net margin reached an impressive 57%, highlighting just how profitable its current business has become. The results also came in well ahead of market expectations, beating analyst forecasts by around 25%.

A major reason for the strong performance is the continued sales strength of CD Projekt Red’s existing game catalog. Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series remain key revenue drivers, proving that both brands still have strong long-term appeal years after their original launches.

Cyberpunk 2077, in particular, continues to benefit from renewed player interest following major updates, expansions, and brand collaborations. The Witcher franchise also remains one of the studio’s most valuable assets, with players continuing to return to its fantasy world while anticipation grows for The Witcher 4.

Licensing has also become an increasingly important part of CD Projekt Red’s business. During the first half of 2026, licensing revenue reached PLN 95 million. The company now works with more than 100 licensing partners, expanding its franchises beyond traditional game sales.

Recent collaborations have included Cyberpunk 2077-themed content appearing in other popular games, helping keep the brand visible across different audiences. The company also pointed to strong interest in Cyberpunk-related merchandise and tabletop products, including a successful crowdfunding campaign for a Cyberpunk trading card game.

At the same time, CD Projekt Red is spending heavily on its future. Development expenses reached PLN 385 million in the first half of the year, showing that the studio is investing aggressively in upcoming projects.

The company’s release pipeline is expected to play a major role in its future growth. A remastered version of The Witcher 3 is planned for release later in 2026, giving one of the most acclaimed role-playing games of all time another chance to reach new and returning players.

After that, CD Projekt Red is expected to continue expanding The Witcher universe with Songs of the Past, a new expansion currently scheduled for 2027. This release is expected to help maintain fan interest before the arrival of the next mainline entry in the franchise.

The biggest title on the horizon remains The Witcher 4. While the game is not expected until 2028, excitement is already high. Promotional material featuring Ciri has fueled discussion among fans, especially as many expect her to play a central role in the next chapter of the series.

With rising revenue, strong profits, valuable intellectual property, and multiple major projects in development, CD Projekt Red appears to be in a strong position. The company is earning heavily from its existing games while preparing for a future built around The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk expansions, licensing deals, and long-term franchise growth.

For now, CD Projekt Red is proving that a well-managed back catalog can remain highly profitable while new blockbusters are still years away. If its upcoming releases meet expectations, the studio could be heading into one of the most important periods in its history.
