Casio G-Shock GD-350S-1 goes on sale with vibration alerts and 200m water resistance
Casio’s rugged G-Shock GD-350S-1 is now available for general sale in the UK, priced at £100 including VAT, which is about $135. The digital watch stands out in the current G-Shock lineup thanks to one increasingly rare feature: vibration alerts.
The GD-350 series has been around since 2013, and its staying power comes down to practicality. While many G-Shock models rely on audible alarms and flashing lights, the GD-350S-1 can send a physical pulse through the wrist. That makes it especially useful in quiet environments, noisy workplaces, outdoor activities, or for users who may not always hear a standard beep.
Casio designed the vibration system with more thought than a simple internal buzzing motor. The watch uses shock absorbers built into the caseback to help transfer the vibration directly to the wrist instead of letting it fade through the case. The feature works with the countdown timer and five daily alarms, giving users the choice between vibration or a more traditional tone with LED flash.
As expected from a G-Shock, durability is a major part of the appeal. The GD-350S-1 offers 200 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for swimming, wet outdoor use, and demanding everyday wear. It also includes Casio’s usual shock-resistant construction, giving it the tough character that has made the G-Shock name so popular.
The watch is large, and that may be the biggest consideration for buyers. It measures 53.4 × 50.8 × 18 mm and weighs around 75 grams. The 18 mm thickness is particularly noticeable, so this is not a slim digital watch designed to disappear under a cuff. Instead, it has a bold, tool-watch presence on the wrist.
Visually, the GD-350S-1 has a distinctive upper-right indicator display inspired by a submarine radar scope. This design element gives the watch a more tactical and functional look, while the rest of the case and dial layout reinforce its rugged digital style.
Feature-wise, the Casio G-Shock GD-350S-1 is well equipped. It includes world time for 35 time zones and 100 cities, a 1/100-second stopwatch, and a 24-hour countdown timer with a dedicated start button for quick access. The Super Illuminator LED backlight offers selectable illumination times of one, three, or five seconds, and the auto-light function can activate the display when the wrist is tilted.
Accuracy is rated at approximately ±15 seconds per month, while the CR2032 battery is expected to last around five years. That long battery life adds to the watch’s appeal as a low-maintenance, dependable digital G-Shock for daily use.
At £100 in the UK, the GD-350S-1 offers strong value for anyone looking for a tough digital watch with practical vibration alerts. Casio has not yet confirmed official US pricing, but the model remains listed internationally, suggesting wider availability may follow.
