Casio’s next square G-Shock is starting to look a lot more real. The upcoming GBX-H5600 has surfaced again in a fresh leak that adds two key details fans have been waiting for: a likely price and a rough release window. According to new information circulating in Japan, the watch could arrive as soon as May, with a listed price of ¥44,000, which works out to around $275.
This model first popped up in earlier leaks and certification sightings, but the newest round of details helps clarify where it fits in the G-Shock lineup. The GBX-H5600 appears designed as a crossover between two popular directions Casio has been leaning into lately: the surf-ready G-Lide approach and the more fitness-driven features found in the brand’s sport-focused watches. In other words, it looks like Casio wants one rugged square that can handle the beach lifestyle and modern health tracking without forcing buyers to choose between the two.
On the feature side, the leak reinforces several specs that have already been hinted at. The GBX-H5600 is expected to use a high-resolution MIP (memory-in-pixel) display, a type of screen known for strong outdoor visibility—especially useful for water sports and bright sunlight. It’s also tipped to include solar charging, which should reduce the need for frequent charging, along with Bluetooth connectivity for syncing and phone-based features.
One of the biggest talking points is the repeated mention of an optical heart-rate sensor. That lines up with what earlier renders suggested and with the “H” naming, which has become associated with health and fitness functions. If this holds true, the GBX-H5600 won’t just be about tides and surf conditions—it may also lean into workout stats and broader activity insights.
Two versions are expected at launch: the GBX-H5600-1 in black and the GBX-H5600-2 in blue. Both are said to feature translucent resin elements and G-Lide branding, signaling that Casio still wants the surf identity front and center. The screen layout is also expected to be tuned for water use, including tide graph functionality and a rectangular display format that prioritizes glanceable data.
At the same time, adding heart-rate tracking and fitness metrics brings it closer to square fitness models that already focus on movement, sleep, and cardio-related measurements. If Casio blends those capabilities well, the GBX-H5600 could become an appealing option for people who want a tough everyday watch that’s equally comfortable at the gym, on a run, or out on the water.
This leak also fits into a bigger trend: Casio has been steadily expanding MIP displays across newer releases, likely responding to demand for sharper readability and modernized screens without abandoning the brand’s signature durability. The GBX-H5600 seems positioned as another step in that shift.
Casio hasn’t officially confirmed the GBX-H5600’s launch date or pricing yet. Still, with certification trails, multiple render leaks, and now a consistent pricing report, it increasingly looks like an announcement is near—and a May release doesn’t seem far-fetched.
