Casio and Union Unveil Pan-African Inspired G-Shock DW-5600RBG-1
Casio is giving one of its most recognizable digital watches a bold cultural refresh. The brand has partnered with streetwear retailer Union to introduce the G-Shock DW-5600RBG-1, a special edition model inspired by the red, green, and black colors of the Pan-African flag.
The new watch keeps the classic square-shaped DW-5600 design that has made the G-Shock line a favorite among collectors, streetwear fans, and everyday watch users. However, this collaboration adds a striking visual identity through Pan-African color accents and exclusive Union branding.
The Casio G-Shock DW-5600RBG-1 uses the colors associated with Marcus Garvey’s Pan-African flag, with red, green, and black details appearing across the watch design. The retainers also feature the same color theme, giving the model a coordinated look without changing the familiar toughness of the original DW-5600.
Union’s Frontman logo is engraved on the metal case back, adding a collectible detail for fans of the brand. The logo also appears on the display when the white LED backlight is activated, giving the watch an extra hidden design element that stands out in low-light conditions.
While the design is new, the core specifications remain faithful to the standard DW-5600 formula. The case is made from bio-based resin and measures 48.9 x 42.8 x 13.4 mm. It weighs 52 grams, keeping it lightweight and comfortable for daily wear. The digital display is protected by mineral glass, while the watch retains G-Shock’s signature shock-resistant construction.
The DW-5600RBG-1 also offers 200-meter water resistance, making it suitable for swimming, outdoor use, and active lifestyles. Its practical functions include a 1/100-second stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer, a multifunction alarm, a full auto-calendar, and flash alerts.
Battery life is another strong point. The watch uses a CR2016 battery rated for approximately five years of operation, meaning users can enjoy long-term reliability without frequent battery changes.
The special edition G-Shock will arrive in custom matching packaging, adding to its appeal as a collector’s item. In the United States, the Casio G-Shock DW-5600RBG-1 is scheduled to launch on November 6 with a retail price of $165. It will be available through Union’s online store and its Los Angeles retail location.
A Japan release will follow on November 7 under the model name DW-5600RBG-1JR. It will be priced at ¥19,800 and sold through Union stores in Tokyo and Osaka.
With its mix of classic G-Shock durability, Pan-African-inspired colors, and Union’s streetwear influence, the DW-5600RBG-1 is likely to attract both watch collectors and fashion-focused buyers looking for a meaningful twist on an iconic Casio design.
