Casio Oceanus Retro Tone Collection Goes on Sale in Japan With Two Limited Titanium Models
Casio has officially opened direct sales for its new Oceanus Retro Tone Collection in Japan, giving collectors a chance to secure two limited-edition titanium watches with vintage-inspired styling, premium materials, and Japan-exclusive availability.
The collection is made up of just 800 pieces in total, split across two models. The more exclusive of the pair is the Oceanus Manta OCW-S400RL-8AJR, limited to 300 units and priced at ¥165,000, or roughly $1,040. The second model, the Oceanus Classic Line OCW-T2600RL-3AJR, is limited to 500 units and priced at ¥115,500, or around $730.
Both watches were previously available by reservation, but as of August 7, they are now listed for regular purchase through Casio’s Japanese sales channel. For international fans, however, there is one major catch: Casio has not announced any plans to release these models outside Japan. That means overseas buyers will likely need to rely on import or proxy purchasing services, which could increase the final cost.
The standout feature of the Oceanus Retro Tone Collection is its dial design. Casio has used a three-layer gradient process over a molded dial base, combining silver vapor deposition, colored coating, and a printed gradation pattern. The result is a soft retro-style color shift that appears to glow outward from the center of the dial.
The finish is half-matte, giving the watches a subdued, refined look rather than an overly glossy appearance. Because these are solar-powered watches, Casio also had to balance the visual depth of the dial with the need for enough light to pass through to the solar cell underneath.
Both models come fitted with full vegetable-tanned calfskin straps from Tochigi Leather, a respected Japanese tannery that has been operating since 1937. Unlike many treated leather straps that are designed to resist visible aging, this leather was chosen because it develops a natural patina over time. That means each watch should gradually take on a more personal, worn-in character as it is used.
The Oceanus Manta OCW-S400RL-8AJR is the more premium option in the lineup. It features a sapphire bezel ring with a laser-treated half-matte surface, which Casio describes as having a frost-like texture. It also includes Bluetooth connectivity for syncing with the Casio Watches app, giving users convenient time adjustment and settings control through a smartphone.
The Oceanus Classic Line OCW-T2600RL-3AJR takes a more traditional approach and does not include Bluetooth connectivity. Even so, it retains the core Oceanus strengths, including Tough Solar charging, radio-controlled time correction through six global transmitters, and world time support for 29 cities.
The Classic Line model uses a titanium case measuring 48.2 × 42.8 × 10.7 mm and weighs just 49 grams, making it notably light for a full-featured analog watch. It is also rated to 10 bar water resistance, making it suitable for daily wear and everyday water exposure.
With only 300 Manta units and 500 Classic Line units available, the Oceanus Retro Tone Collection is positioned as a highly limited release for collectors who appreciate Japanese craftsmanship, solar-powered convenience, and refined retro design. Its Japan-only status may make it harder to obtain, but that exclusivity could also increase its appeal among Oceanus enthusiasts worldwide.
