Casio is ready to fold a little Japanese tradition into its next UK release, with two origami-inspired G-Shock watches now appearing on the brand’s UK online store. The new models, the G-Shock DW-5600RGM-1 and DW-6900RGM-5, first launched in Japan in November 2025 and are also expected to roll out more widely across Europe.
In the UK, both watches are listed with a recommended retail price of £129 and currently sit in the “coming soon” section of the store. While Casio hasn’t shared an exact launch date yet, shoppers can register for an email alert through the “Available soon” sign-up option to be notified as soon as they go on sale.
What makes these releases stand out is the origami-themed styling. Each watch features dotted guideline graphics that echo the mountain and valley folds used in paper folding. The colorways flip the script between the two models: the DW-6900RGM-5 comes in a white resin case with black accent lines, while the DW-5600RGM-1 uses the reverse look with a darker base and lighter detailing. Casio also notes a textured finish designed to resemble washi paper, the traditional material often associated with Japanese paper crafts.
There are a few extra design touches for fans of themed collectibles. A paper crane is engraved on the metal case back, and the same crane motif appears again when you switch on the LED backlight, adding a subtle surprise that fits the concept perfectly.
Beyond the visuals, these are still very much classic G-Shocks built for everyday wear and durability. Both models include a countdown timer, a multi-function alarm, and a 1/100th-second stopwatch. They’re shock resistant and water resistant to 200 meters, making them suitable for swimming and water-based activities.
The main difference comes down to the casing and display style. The DW-5600RGM-1 follows the iconic square G-Shock look with a rectangular digital display. The DW-6900RGM-5 goes for the familiar round case and “Triple Graph” layout, featuring three indicators above a slimmer display window.
At the moment, attention is on the UK and broader European availability, where listings have suggested a price point of around €149 in some markets. As for whether these origami-inspired G-Shock models will arrive in the US, Casio hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
