Casio Revamps the AQ-230: Retro Hybrids Return with Sleek Leather Straps

Casio is bringing fresh retro flair to Europe with two new Vintage models, the AQ-230EL-1A and AQ-230EGL-9A. Unveiled in early October 2025 and already available in Japan, these analog-digital hybrids are now listed across Casio’s European online stores with a “Coming soon” status and email alerts for launch updates.

Both watches keep the beloved AQ-230 formula intact while adding genuine leather straps and a refined, metal-look aesthetic. The AQ-230EL-1A pairs a silver-tone resin and chrome case with a black crocodile-print leather strap. The AQ-230EGL-9A opts for a warmer palette, combining a gold-tone case with a tan crocodile-print leather strap. Each measures a slim and wearable 38.8 x 29.8 x 8.1 mm (about 1.5 x 1.2 x 0.3 in) and weighs around 20 g (approx. 0.7 oz), making them comfortable everyday companions that slip easily under a cuff.

True to the AQ-230 line, these are hybrid timepieces with analog hands and a discreet digital display at the bottom of the dial. The hands are rated to stay accurate within 30 seconds per month, while the digital screen handles practical info like a second time zone, the date, and day of the week. Useful extras include a daily alarm, hourly time signal, and a 1/100-second stopwatch—handy for travel, work, or timing quick intervals without reaching for your phone.

Pricing in Europe is sharply positioned: the AQ-230EL-1A in black and silver lists at €59.90, while the tan-and-gold AQ-230EGL-9A comes in at €69.90. The models are appearing across various European country stores, including the Netherlands, France, and Germany. Availability in other regions, such as the US, has not yet been announced.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, vintage-inspired Casio with genuine leather and dual-time functionality, the AQ-230EL-1A and AQ-230EGL-9A deliver classic style with everyday practicality, all at under €70.
