Casio is celebrating an impressive milestone with the launch of its latest calculator model, the Comfy JT-200T, marking 60 years since its first ever calculator release. This sleek and stylish gadget not only embraces elements of its iconic past designs but also introduces a fresh modern aesthetic that promises to captivate users.
One of the most striking features of the Comfy JT-200T is the repositioned solar panel, a deviation from the typical small panels placed above or beside the display. This new design boasts a significantly larger solar cell that spans the entire length of the calculator, now strategically located at the top side. This innovative placement ensures it’s angled in a way that optimizes solar energy capture while maintaining user convenience.
Crafted with sustainability in mind, the Comfy JT-200T is made from a blend of materials including recycled resin and mica, offering durability by resisting scratches. Its design pays homage to the Casio Mini, with the font from the original 1972 model making a comeback. Practical features like an 8-degree kickstand and anti-slip feet add functionality, alongside a 12-digit display and dedicated tax calculation keys.
Diverging from modern tech trends like supercapacitors, this calculator operates on a CR2025 coin cell battery, boasting an impressive lifespan of up to seven years with one hour of daily use.
Adding a touch of personalization, the Comfy JT-200T comes in five chic colors: Off White, Dark Gray, Grayish Pink, Grayish Green, and Grayish Blue, allowing users to choose one that best suits their style or workspace. This new model is set to hit the market on January 30 at a price of approximately ¥3,850 (~$25/€24), although there’s no information on its availability beyond the initial release.
For fans of vintage tech, the Casio CA3W Vintage Calculator Watch is also available for purchase separately, appealing to those with a fondness for retro-style gadgets. The Comfy JT-200T continues Casio’s tradition of blending innovation with tradition, reaffirming its status as a leader in calculator technology.
