Casio has introduced the AQ-230ECK-3AJR, a stylish new collaboration with Café Kitsuné that gives the brand’s classic analog-digital design a fresh matcha-inspired look. The watch is based on Casio’s popular AQ-230 vintage platform and is scheduled to ship in September, with preorders now open through Casio Japan’s online store.
Priced at ¥17,600 including tax, which is roughly $110, the Casio AQ-230ECK-3AJR blends retro watch design with Café Kitsuné’s signature Paris-meets-Tokyo aesthetic. The standout feature is its matcha green dial, a color choice that directly reflects Café Kitsuné’s history. Before becoming known for specialty coffee, the brand helped bring matcha culture to Paris, making the green theme a meaningful part of the collaboration rather than just a visual update.
The dial features Café Kitsuné’s recognizable fox emblem below the 12 o’clock marker, while the Café Kitsuné name appears above 6 o’clock. Casio has also added the fox and logo to the caseback, giving the watch a more collectible feel. The bracelet clasp carries the branding as well, and the packaging continues the matcha color theme for a coordinated presentation.
This is the second time Casio and Café Kitsuné have teamed up on a watch. Their previous collaboration used the Casio A168 as its base and featured an orange LCD, a nod to the fox logo. With the AQ-230ECK-3AJR, the partnership moves into analog-digital territory, giving the design more room to highlight the green dial and minimal branding.
In terms of build, the Casio AQ-230ECK-3AJR uses a resin case and bezel with a metallic finish, paired with a stainless-steel bracelet and adjustable clasp. The watch is designed to fit wrists from 150 mm to 205 mm. It measures 38.8 mm by 29.8 mm by 8.1 mm and weighs 47 grams, making it compact, slim, and easy to wear daily.
The crystal is plastic, and the watch is rated for everyday water resistance, though Casio has not listed a specific depth or bar rating. That means it should handle light splashes but is not positioned as a swim-ready or dive-focused model.
Inside, the watch runs on Casio’s Module 5154. Features include dual time, a 1/100-second stopwatch with up to 60 minutes of timing, a daily alarm, an hourly time signal, an automatic calendar, and the option to display time in either 12-hour or 24-hour format. Accuracy is rated at approximately plus or minus 30 seconds per month, while battery life is estimated at around three years.
Casio has not announced an official production limit for the AQ-230ECK-3AJR, so it is unclear whether this will be a numbered limited edition or simply a special collaborative release. Still, the combination of the vintage AQ-230 design, matcha green dial, Café Kitsuné branding, and exclusive availability is likely to make it appealing to Casio collectors and fans of fashion-focused watches.
