Casio adds four bright new colors to MY G-Shock customization in Japan
Casio has expanded its MY G-Shock customization service in Japan with four bold new color options, giving fans even more ways to build a personalized square G-Shock. The latest additions bring a playful mix of orange, blue, pink, and green shades to the online-only service, making the already massive customization platform even more colorful.
The new preset designs arrive with unusually simple names: “Orange is my favourite,” “I like light blue,” “Pink is my favourite,” and “Green is my favourite.” While the preset names lean casual, the individual parts have more traditional color labels. Buyers creating their own combinations will find the same shades listed as Magma Orange, Strato Blue, Slime Pink, and Bio Green.
MY G-Shock has been available since October 2021 as an exclusive service through Casio’s Japanese online store. It is based on the DWE-5610, a square digital G-Shock model featuring Carbon Core Guard construction. The service allows customers to customize several parts of the watch, including the bezel, band, dial, buttons, buckle, and strap keeper.
At launch, Casio estimated that users could create around 1.9 million different combinations. With the option to select a triple strap keeper, that number reportedly rises to roughly 658 million possible builds. The latest color additions make the platform even more appealing for collectors and casual buyers who want a G-Shock that feels more personal than a standard retail model.
However, building a custom MY G-Shock has become noticeably more expensive over time. When the service launched in 2021, the starting price was ¥15,400. Today, the entry price has climbed to ¥24,200, which is around $153. That marks an increase of about 57 percent since the service began. A price adjustment in September 2024 alone added ¥2,200 to the base cost.
Certain premium parts also increase the final price. Clear resin components and ion-plated buckles cost extra, so a fully customized model can become more expensive depending on the selected configuration.
Casio also limits the number of MY G-Shock orders it accepts each week. Once the weekly allocation is filled, ordering is paused until availability returns. Parts labeled as “Limited” are not restocked after they sell out, which means a specific design using those pieces may not be possible to recreate later.
Delivery usually takes three to five weeks, and the service remains limited to shipping within Japan. That restriction may disappoint international G-Shock fans, especially as MY G-Shock continues to offer one of the most flexible customization systems in Casio’s lineup.
One detail buyers should note is that although the DWE-5610 carries “5610” in its name, its bezel size is closer to the 5600 series than the broader 5610 family. This could matter for anyone planning to use aftermarket or third-party parts later, as compatibility may not be as straightforward as the model number suggests.
With Magma Orange, Strato Blue, Slime Pink, and Bio Green now part of the MY G-Shock catalog, Casio is giving collectors another reason to experiment. The service may be more expensive than it was at launch, but for fans who value individuality, the ability to create a one-of-a-kind square G-Shock remains a major draw.
