Casio AE-1700H Is Coming: 10-Year Power, Wallet-Friendly Price

Casio is gearing up to launch the AE-1700H, a new line of affordable, diver-inspired digital watches that blend rugged style with everyday usability. Expected to arrive in late 2025 for around $60 (about 50 euros), the AE-1700H aims to deliver a lot of value, including a 10-year battery and a compact, wrist-friendly size.

The design borrows cues from classic dive watches and Casio’s outdoor-focused lineup, featuring an aluminum, unidirectional-style bezel look that adds purpose without unnecessary bulk. At 47.3 mm wide, the case is more compact than the AE-1500 and AE-1600 models while still looking tough. The resin case and strap are built for durability, paired with a plastic crystal to keep weight and cost in check. Water resistance is rated to 100 meters, making it a solid pick for swimming and everyday wear. Note that the bezel appears to be aesthetic rather than a true rotating diver’s bezel.

Casio plans at least three versions at launch:
– AE-1700H-1A: classic black
– AE-1700H-1B: black with gold accents and a negative display
– AE-1700H-1A2: a blue-red “Pepsi-style” colorway

Beyond the styling, the AE-1700H packs a surprisingly deep feature set for its price. Expect dual time for easy travel, tide and moon data for outdoor enthusiasts, and an animated seconds counter around the outer ring of the digital display that adds a bit of visual flair. Timekeeping tools include a 24-hour chronograph, a countdown timer with auto-repeat, multiple alarms, an hourly chime, and a full auto calendar. An amber LED backlight provides quick legibility in low light.
