Canon has introduced the EOS R6 Mark III, a full-frame mirrorless camera built for creators who need uncompromising speed, reliable autofocus, and pro-grade video tools. With a 32.5 MP sensor, 7K60p video, and advanced AI-driven features, it targets both filmmakers and photographers who want one body that excels at everything from high-speed action to cinematic production.
At the heart of the R6 Mark III is Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, capable of focusing down to EV -6.5 for stills and EV -4 for video. It shoots 32.5 MP photos at up to 40 fps, making it a strong fit for sports, wildlife, and fast-paced events. For video, the camera outputs RAW in 7K 17:9 widescreen or full-sensor 7K 3:2 open-gate, giving creators flexibility for different aspect ratios and reframing in post.
Videographers get a serious toolkit. Footage can be recorded in 12-bit Canon RAW Light Movie format to either a CFexpress Type B card or a UHS-II V90 SD card. Canon Log 2 and Log 3 are available, enabling more than 15 stops of exposure latitude for maximum grading flexibility. Onboard stereo microphones capture 24-bit, 48 kHz audio, and AI neural image processing is designed to enhance photo quality straight out of the camera.
The body is built for reliability and speed. In-body image stabilization offers up to 7.5 stops of shake reduction, while AI-powered subject detection recognizes people, pets, and cars for sticky tracking across challenging scenes. The mechanical shutter tops out at 1/8,000 second, with an electronic shutter reaching 1/16,000 second. ISO ranges from 50 to 102,400 for photos and 100 to 102,400 for video, expanding creative possibilities in bright and low light.
Framing and review are handled through a 0.5-inch 3.96-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3.0-inch 1.62-million-dot vari-angle LCD, ideal for high- and low-angle shooting as well as vlogging.
Stop-motion animators get a dedicated version of the R6 Mark III, featuring a higher-resolution Live View of 1,920 x 1,280 when paired with stop-motion software such as Dragonframe. It also adds production-friendly tools like Focus Position Memory and Aperture Lock to maintain consistent focus and exposure between frames.
