Call of Duty: Black Ops Classics Finally Deploy on PS5 and PS4

Activision has brought two fan-favorite Call of Duty classics to modern PlayStation consoles, as Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II are now available on PS4 and PS5.

The arrival of these two titles is a major moment for PlayStation players who have been waiting years to revisit some of the most iconic entries in the Black Ops series without needing older hardware. Both games originally launched during the PlayStation 3 era, in 2010 and 2012, and until now they were not playable on PS4 or PS5 due to the lack of PS3 backward compatibility on Sony’s newer consoles.

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II are currently priced at $19.99 each as part of a launch promotion. This discounted price will be available until August 6, after which each game will return to its standard price of $39.99.

For many fans, this release is more than just another digital launch. The original Call of Duty: Black Ops is widely remembered for its gripping Cold War storyline, intense covert operations, and memorable characters. Its campaign follows an elite special forces operative through a series of secret missions filled with psychological twists, high-stakes combat, and cinematic action. Alongside the campaign, players can jump into classic multiplayer and the beloved Zombies mode, which helped define cooperative survival gameplay for an entire generation.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II takes the series in a different direction by blending past conflicts with a near-future war shaped by advanced technology. The game introduced a more futuristic style of combat, featuring high-tech weapons, drones, and a branching narrative that made it stand out from earlier entries. Its multiplayer remains one of the most talked-about experiences in the franchise, while Zombies mode expanded with more ambitious maps and new survival challenges.

The release of both Black Ops games on PS4 and PS5 gives longtime players a chance to relive two of the series’ most celebrated chapters, while newer fans can experience the campaigns, multiplayer action, and Zombies content that helped turn the Black Ops name into one of Call of Duty’s biggest brands.

With Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II now available on modern PlayStation consoles, this is a strong opportunity for fans to revisit classic missions, iconic multiplayer maps, and unforgettable Zombies gameplay at a reduced launch price before the promotion ends.
