BYD Unveils Record-Fast Production Car with 30C Blade Battery and 310-MPH-Rated Tires

BYD’s U9 Xtreme just fired a shot heard around the hypercar world. The limited-run electric monster has set a blistering Nürburgring lap of 6:59.157 and posted a recorded top speed of 496.22 km/h (about 308 mph), surpassing the Bugatti Chiron to claim the “world’s fastest production car” crown. The public got its first official look at the car at the 2025 Auto Show in Guangzhou, where BYD confirmed only 30 units will be built.

Powering the headline-grabbing numbers is a quad-motor setup delivering nearly 3,000 horsepower through BYD’s upgraded e⁴ intelligent all-wheel drive and DiSus-X active body control. The U9 Xtreme’s chassis and aero package were engineered for high-speed stability and relentless track pace, with massive carbon fiber front and rear spoilers adding serious downforce. A dual-through hood, pronounced fender flares, and a dual-layer rear diffuser complete the functional body kit aimed at squeezing every last kilometer per hour and shaving precious seconds off lap times.

Braking hardware is equally extreme. Lightweight, ultra-strong titanium alloy calipers clamp onto a bespoke carbon-ceramic system designed to haul the car down from speeds up to 500 km/h. They work in tandem with custom semi-slick GitiSport e·GTR2 PRO tires engineered to withstand the thermal and structural punishment of repeated high-speed runs.

The star of the show, however, is BYD’s purpose-built Blade Battery. Developed specifically for the U9 Xtreme, it features custom cells and a dual-layer cooling system optimized to minimize internal resistance. The result is an astonishing 30C discharge capability, meaning the pack can deliver current equal to 30 times its total capacity. Those short, ferocious bursts of energy are what feed the high-rev electric motors and make sustained 300+ mph performance possible.

Despite its record-chasing credentials, the U9 Xtreme won’t carry the eye-watering seven-figure price tag so common in the hypercar world. While pricing will sit above the quarter-million dollars commanded by the standard U9, it remains positioned to undercut many exotic rivals while delivering breathtaking performance and cutting-edge battery tech.

The achievement underscores a rapid shift in the EV performance landscape. The top three spots in the fastest electric production car rankings are now held by Chinese brands, with 0–60 mph times starting at a stunning 1.9 seconds. A well-known American sedan sits just behind in fourth, highlighting how fierce the electric arms race has become.

Limited to 30 units, engineered with race-grade aerodynamics and hardware, and powered by a groundbreaking 30C Blade Battery, the BYD U9 Xtreme isn’t just fast for an EV—it’s a new benchmark for production cars, period.
