The BYD Atto 3 Evo isn’t a minor facelift of the popular compact electric SUV—it’s a substantial technical upgrade that targets the biggest pain points for everyday EV drivers: range, charging speed, and performance options. While the exterior dimensions remain the same as the earlier model, what’s underneath has been significantly modernized, making the Atto 3 Evo a far more competitive choice in the growing electric SUV market.
One of the headline improvements is the move to an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture. This change brings a major leap in DC fast-charging capability, with peak charging power now reaching up to 220 kW. In real-world terms, BYD says the Atto 3 Evo can charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes. That’s a dramatic improvement over the previous version, which was limited to 88 kW and took noticeably longer at fast chargers—an important upgrade for drivers who rely on public charging or take frequent road trips.
Range also gets a meaningful boost, thanks to a larger battery. BYD continues to use an LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery—known for durability and thermal stability—rather than switching to an NMC pack. Even so, battery capacity climbs to 74.8 kWh, up from 60 kWh in the earlier model. Combined with the updated platform, the BYD Atto 3 Evo delivers a WLTP driving range of over 310 miles, helping it better meet the expectations of buyers shopping for a versatile all-electric compact SUV.
Another major shift is the change in drivetrain strategy. Instead of offering only front-wheel drive, the Atto 3 Evo is now available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. The entry “Design” version comes with rear-wheel drive and produces 230 kW along with 280 lb-ft of torque. For shoppers wanting extra traction and stronger acceleration, the “Excellence” trim adds a second motor for all-wheel drive, delivering a combined 330 kW and 413 lb-ft of torque.
BYD also highlights its Cell-to-Body technology, which integrates the battery structure more closely into the vehicle’s body. This approach is designed to improve packaging efficiency and can contribute to better overall rigidity and space utilization—another part of why the Atto 3 Evo is being positioned as more than a standard refresh.
In Europe, pricing starts at €44,990 for the rear-wheel-drive Atto 3 Evo “Design,” while the all-wheel-drive “Excellence” model is listed at €50,990. Both versions are available to order now, with first deliveries expected this spring.
With faster charging, increased battery capacity, over-300-mile WLTP range, and new RWD/AWD powertrain choices, the BYD Atto 3 Evo arrives as a more capable and future-ready electric SUV for buyers who want modern charging speeds and flexible performance without stepping up to a larger vehicle class.
