Bose QuietComfort 2nd Gen headphones may launch soon with a refreshed design and premium audio upgrades
Bose may be preparing to refresh its popular standard QuietComfort headphones for the first time since the model arrived in 2023. A new leak suggests that the Bose QuietComfort 2nd Gen headphones are on the way, bringing a redesigned look, upgraded listening features, and the same launch price as the current version.
According to the latest report, the Bose QuietComfort 2nd Gen headphones could be officially released on August 13, 2026, with preorders possibly opening around August 7. If the leaked pricing is accurate, the headphones will cost €349.95 in Europe, £299.95 in the UK, and $359 in the US. That would keep the new model in the same price range as the outgoing QuietComfort headphones, despite the expected hardware and software improvements.
The biggest changes appear to be in the design. The upcoming QuietComfort model is said to feature new pill-shaped ear cushions, a wider headband, and extra synthetic leather padding for improved comfort during long listening sessions. Bose may also be shifting the controls directly onto the earcups, which could make playback, noise cancellation, and mode switching easier to manage without reaching for a phone.
Audio upgrades may be the main attraction. The leak claims that Bose will add TrueSpatial audio technology to the QuietComfort 2nd Gen, giving listeners a more immersive sound experience. Lossless audio playback through USB-C is also reportedly included, which would be a welcome upgrade for users who want higher-quality wired listening from compatible devices.
Two new sound modes are also expected. The first is said to be an “Immersion” mode, likely designed to create a wider and more spacious audio feel. The second is reportedly a “Cinema Mode,” which appears to focus on clearer dialogue for movies, TV shows, and video content. If accurate, these features would make the new QuietComfort headphones more appealing not only for music but also for streaming and travel entertainment.
Battery life may remain familiar. The Bose QuietComfort 2nd Gen headphones are expected to offer up to 24 hours of playback with active noise cancellation enabled. With TrueSpatial audio turned on, battery life may drop to around 18 hours. While that does not appear to be a major increase over the current model, it would still be competitive for premium noise-cancelling headphones.
The rumored feature list also makes the new QuietComfort model sound closer to the higher-end QuietComfort Ultra 2nd Gen headphones. That premium model already includes several similar upgrades, such as USB-C lossless audio, Cinema Mode, and a revised design. If the standard QuietComfort 2nd Gen launches with many of the same features at a lower price, it could become one of Bose’s most attractive headphone options in 2026.
For now, Bose has not confirmed the QuietComfort 2nd Gen headphones, their release date, or their specifications. As with any early leak, details could change before launch. Still, the information points to a meaningful refresh that may keep the Bose QuietComfort lineup highly competitive in the premium wireless noise-cancelling headphone market.
