Bose QuietComfort 2 Arrive With Premium Sound and a More Tempting $359 Price

Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) Launch With Immersive Audio, Upgraded Noise Cancellation, and USB-C Lossless Sound

Bose has introduced the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen), a refreshed version of its popular over-ear wireless headphones, priced at $359. This latest model brings several premium features from Bose’s higher-end lineup into the standard QuietComfort series, including TrueSpatial Immersive Audio, improved active noise cancellation, lossless USB-C listening, and a more comfortable design.

The launch marks the first major update to the base QuietComfort Headphones in more than two years, and Bose is clearly aiming to make the new model more appealing to listeners who want premium sound and strong noise cancellation without stepping up to the Ultra range.

One of the biggest additions is Bose TrueSpatial Immersive Audio. For the first time, the standard QuietComfort Headphones include immersive listening modes designed to create a wider, more spacious soundstage. Users can choose between Still, Motion, and Cinema modes depending on how they want their audio to feel.

Still Mode keeps the sound fixed in place as the listener moves their head, creating a more speaker-like experience. Motion Mode lets the soundstage move naturally with the listener, making it better suited for walking, commuting, or everyday movement. Cinema Mode is designed for movies, shows, and podcasts, expanding the audio field while keeping voices clear and centered.

Bose has also improved the design with a focus on long-term comfort. The adjustable headband has been refined with smoother shaping and additional soft synthetic-leather cushioning. The clamping force has also been optimized to provide a secure fit without feeling too tight, which should help during longer listening sessions.

The earcups now have a cleaner, more polished shape, with subtle color accents inside for a two-tone look. Alongside the classic Black and White Smoke versions, Bose is offering three limited-edition colors: Eucalyptus Green, Dewdrop Mint, and Rosewood Mauve. These new finishes give the headphones a more stylish and modern appearance while keeping the understated QuietComfort identity intact.

Noise cancellation remains a key selling point. The Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) feature a six-microphone noise-cancelling system powered by updated QuietControl technology. The new adaptive feedforward controls are designed to better adjust when the earcup seal is not perfect, which can happen when users wear glasses or have longer hair.

Aware Mode has also been upgraded with improved ActiveSense performance. This feature helps manage sudden loud sounds, such as a train passing by or a burst of traffic noise, so the transition between ambient sound and noise cancellation feels smoother and less jarring.

Listeners can still customize their experience through the Bose companion app. The app allows users to fine-tune noise cancellation levels, create custom listening modes, adjust sound with a three-band EQ, manage paired devices, and install firmware updates.

Audio quality gets another notable boost with support for lossless wired USB-C playback at up to 24-bit/48kHz. This gives users the option to enjoy higher-quality audio through a cable, a useful feature for listeners who want more detail than standard Bluetooth streaming can provide.

Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint support, allowing the headphones to stay connected to two devices at once. Android users also get Google Fast Pair for quicker setup. The headphones support two-way USB-C audio, and Bose includes a USB-C-to-3.5mm cable in the box for use with analog sources, such as airplane entertainment systems.

Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours on a full charge. With Immersive Audio enabled, battery life drops to around 18 hours. A quick 15-minute charge provides about 2.5 hours of listening time, and Bose says the headphones can continue playing audio while charging.

Physical controls remain familiar. The right earcup handles playback, volume, and calls, while the left earcup includes a listening mode button and a customizable shortcut that can be assigned to a voice assistant or Spotify Tap.

The Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) will be available for pre-order starting August 8, 2026, with shipping scheduled to begin August 13. At $359, the new model brings a stronger mix of comfort, premium audio features, and advanced noise cancellation to Bose’s mainstream QuietComfort range, making it a compelling option for travelers, commuters, remote workers, and everyday music lovers.
