Exciting news for gamers eagerly anticipating the release of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl! NVIDIA has announced that the game will support DLSS 3.0 technology, promising a substantial boost in performance for those equipped with RTX 40 GPUs. According to NVIDIA’s own data, players can expect more than double the frame rates when using DLSS 3.0 compared to native resolution.
Set to launch on November 20th, STALKER 2 will be available on Steam, and gamers can take advantage of DLSS 3.0 right from the start. NVIDIA showcased impressive results, claiming an average performance increase of 2.4 times at 4K resolution on high-end RTX 40 graphics cards. However, it’s worth noting that these figures come directly from NVIDIA, so there’s still room for independent verification once the game is out.
The company tested five RTX 40 GPUs: the RTX 4090, RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, RTX 4070 Super, and RTX 4070. Using an Intel Core i9 14900K processor, paired with 64 GB of RAM and running on Windows 11, the game was set to maximum graphical presets with DLSS 3.0 in Performance Mode. The results were impressive, with RTX 4070 Ti Super, RTX 4080 Super, and RTX 4090 going beyond 100 frames per second (FPS).
At 1440p resolution, all tested GPUs surpassed the 100 FPS milestone in Quality Mode. Even the RTX 4060 Ti managed nearly twice the performance of native resolution, reaching 72.9 FPS. Similar trends were observed at 1080p, with the RTX 4060 joining the benchmark tests and performing admirably.
Laptop versions of the RTX 40 GPUs also demonstrated significant performance improvements using DLSS 3.0 Frame Generation, maintaining high frame rates even at the highest settings. For instance, the RTX 4080 and 4090 exceeded 100 FPS at 1440p in Quality Mode, while the RTX 4070 achieved 76 FPS. At 1080p, the RTX 4070 hit the 100 FPS mark, with the RTX 4060 and 4050 following closely behind.
As we wait for independent evaluations of STALKER 2’s performance enhancements, the results shared by NVIDIA certainly build anticipation. It’s an exciting time for gamers eager to explore the post-apocalyptic world of Heart of Chornobyl and experience the game with newfound smoothness and visual quality powered by NVIDIA’s DLSS 3.0.
