Biostar BIWCL-PAT Brings Intel Wildcat Lake to a Compact Industrial Motherboard
Biostar has officially detailed its new BIWCL-PAT motherboard, a compact 3.5-inch single-board computer designed for industrial and embedded systems. First shown at Computex 2026, the board is now being presented with a fuller look at its specifications, highlighting support for Intel’s new Wildcat Lake processors, modern DDR5 memory, triple-display output, fast networking, and flexible expansion.
Although the BIWCL-PAT measures only 148 × 102 mm, it is built to handle demanding commercial and industrial workloads. The motherboard supports Intel Wildcat Lake Core 3xx processors, with options ranging from the Core 3 304 up to the Core 7 360. These chips operate with a 15 W base power rating and can feature up to six CPU cores, including two performance cores and four low-power efficiency cores. This makes the board suitable for systems that need a balance of responsiveness, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability.
Memory support is handled by a single DDR5-6400 SO-DIMM slot, allowing up to 64 GB of RAM. For a board of this size, that gives system builders enough headroom for multitasking, industrial control software, edge computing applications, and other embedded workloads that benefit from faster memory.
Display support is one of the BIWCL-PAT’s strongest features. The board can run three independent displays through HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and LVDS. Both HDMI and DisplayPort support resolutions up to 4K at 60 Hz, while the LVDS connection supports up to 1920 × 1200. This makes it a strong fit for digital signage, control panels, kiosks, point-of-sale systems, and monitoring stations where multiple screens may be required.
Biostar has also included a practical set of expansion options. The BIWCL-PAT features three M.2 slots, each serving a specific purpose. The M.2 2242/2280 Key-M slot supports NVMe storage through PCIe 4.0 x2, giving users access to fast SSD performance. The M.2 3042/3052 Key-B slot is designed for 4G or 5G cellular modules using PCIe 4.0 x1 and USB 3.2, and it is paired with a dedicated SIM slot. A third M.2 2230 Key-E slot supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, enabling wireless connectivity for embedded deployments.
For wired networking, the BIWCL-PAT includes two 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports powered by Intel I226-LM and Intel I226-V controllers. Dual high-speed LAN ports are especially useful in industrial automation, gateway devices, security systems, and edge computing setups where stable, fast, and redundant network access can be important.
The motherboard also offers a wide range of I/O options. It includes two USB 3.2 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, two RS232/422/485 serial ports, two additional RS232 ports, and an 8-bit digital I/O header. This makes the board compatible with a wide range of legacy industrial hardware, sensors, terminals, and specialized equipment.
Security and software compatibility have also been addressed. The BIWCL-PAT includes TPM 2.0 support and is compatible with Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 24H2 and Ubuntu 24.04. Its 9–24 V DC power input gives integrators flexibility when designing systems for industrial cabinets, kiosks, and embedded environments. The board is rated to operate between 0°C and 60°C, making it suitable for controlled industrial and commercial installations.
This is not a motherboard aimed at gaming PCs or standard consumer desktops. Instead, Biostar is positioning the BIWCL-PAT for system integrators and businesses building industrial automation hardware, edge computing devices, point-of-sale terminals, self-service kiosks, and other embedded solutions.
Biostar has not yet confirmed pricing or availability for the BIWCL-PAT. However, with its compact size, Intel Wildcat Lake support, DDR5 memory, triple-display capability, dual 2.5GbE networking, and broad expansion options, the board looks like a capable foundation for next-generation industrial and embedded computing systems.
