Sony’s Bend Studio, known for the 2019 hit Days Gone, is buzzing with rumors following claims that several of its secret projects have been canceled or put on hold indefinitely. This chatter originated from the LinkedIn profile of Jacob Fieth, a former Bend Studio employee who served from 2019 until June 2025. He mentioned working on “multiple cancelled/unannounced projects,” hinting at intriguing titles that may never reach fans.
Fieth was integral at Bend Studio, contributing significantly to the development of open-world events, puzzles, and systems. He was involved in creating both 2D and 3D layouts and collaborated closely with animators and programmers to enhance in-game cinematics and player mechanics. The details suggest substantial progress was made on these projects before they faced the axe.
In an earlier revelation this year, Sony officially scrapped a live-service game that Bend Studio was crafting, confirming the studio wasn’t closing. However, the aftermath threw everything into disarray, with reports of a 30% layoff among Bend Studio employees following this cancellation and further rumors of additional layoffs recently.
Bend Studio’s spotlight moment before these upheavals was the PS5 and PC port of Days Gone, originally launched on the PS4 in 2019. Days Gone enjoys a stellar reception on Steam, boasting a 91.43% user score and 96,811 positive reviews. Previously, the studio has had successful endeavors with Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PS Vita and the Syphon Filter series.
Neither Sony Interactive Entertainment nor Bend Studio has addressed the buzz surrounding the alleged project cancellations. With ongoing whispers of layoffs, prospects for a Days Gone sequel or a fresh open-world experience appear dim.
