Strategy fans looking for a classic 4X experience can now pick up Sid Meier’s Colonization on Steam for only $1.04. The legendary 1994 turn-based strategy game is currently discounted by 85%, bringing it down from its usual $6.99 price until July 20.
Sid Meier’s Colonization remains one of the most memorable strategy games of the 1990s. Originally developed as a spin-off of Civilization, it sends players to the New World, where they lead a European colonial power through exploration, settlement-building, trade, diplomacy, and eventual rebellion against the Crown.
The core gameplay still feels familiar to fans of early Civilization titles. Players uncover a randomly generated map, establish colonies, gather resources, train specialists, negotiate with Indigenous nations, compete with rival European powers, and build an economy strong enough to support independence.
