Battery Beast: Honor X9d Arrives with an 8,300mAh Cell and Up to 512GB of Storage

Honor has taken the wraps off the X9d, a global midrange phone with flagship-level endurance and a spec sheet aimed at power users. Essentially the international version of the Honor X70, the X9d keeps most of the original’s hardware while dialing back the wired charging speed.

The headline feature is a massive 8,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery designed for long-lasting use. While the China-only sibling supports 80 W charging, the X9d tops out at 66 W wired charging. Even so, the combination of a high-capacity Si-C cell and efficient hardware should make this one of the longest-lasting smartphones in its class.

Up front, the X9d features a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with a 2640 x 1200 resolution, a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, and an eye-popping peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits for better outdoor visibility. Despite the big screen and battery, the phone remains slim and light at 7.76 mm and around 193 grams, with aluminosilicate glass protecting the front.

Under the hood, the device runs Android 15-based MagicOS 9.0 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 paired with an Adreno A810 GPU. It comes with 12 GB of RAM and a choice of 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage. There’s no microSD card slot, so pick your storage carefully. The phone is 5G-ready and carries an IP69K rating, offering robust protection against dust, water, and high-pressure jets.

Photography is handled by a circular camera module that houses a 108 MP main sensor and a 5 MP ultrawide lens. On the front, a 16 MP camera covers selfies and video calls. It’s a straightforward setup focused on delivering high-resolution shots from the primary camera.

What stands out is the balance of battery life, display quality, and durability. The IP69K rating and ultra-bright AMOLED make the X9d appealing for outdoor use, travel, and all-day productivity. On the flip side, the slower 66 W charging compared to the X70 and lack of expandable storage might be downsides for some buyers. Also worth noting, there’s no confirmed software support timeline yet.

If you want a midrange phone built for endurance with a bright, smooth display and a straightforward camera setup, the Honor X9d is an easy contender—especially at its aggressive price point.
