Batman: Arkham Origins Multiplayer Returns on Android Through PS3 Emulator Update
Batman: Arkham Origins multiplayer is playable again in a new way, thanks to the latest update for the Android PlayStation 3 emulator ARMSX3. Version 1.4, released on October 25, 2026, adds support for community-hosted online multiplayer through the Arkham: Revived servers, giving fans another chance to experience a mode that officially went offline nearly ten years ago.
The original online services for Batman: Arkham Origins were shut down on December 4, 2016. This new emulator-based solution does not restore the old PlayStation Network infrastructure, but it does allow Android users running ARMSX3 to connect through RPCN, an alternative network service used for PS3 emulation.
With ARMSX3 1.4, the emulator automatically configures Batman: Arkham Origins to connect to the community-run servers. Once set up, players can access multiplayer features such as quick matches, private lobbies, friend invitations, and lobby joining. The update also includes connection improvements, including background lobby support. If a player switches away from the emulator while waiting in a lobby, ARMSX3 can keep the session active and display a notification. If the connection drops, the emulator will attempt to reconnect automatically.
There is also an optional patch for private matches that allows games to start with fewer than the standard three players. Only the host needs to enable this option, and it does not affect public matchmaking.
There are some important limitations. Players need Batman: Arkham Origins updated to version 1.06, an RPCN account, and the correct network configuration. Multiplayer is also limited to ARMSX3 users connecting through RPCN. Original PlayStation 3 consoles and the PC version on Steam cannot join these sessions.
Beyond Batman, ARMSX3 1.4 introduces another major feature: virtual toy portals. The emulator now supports simulated portals for Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and LEGO Dimensions, allowing compatible games to recognize virtual figures through the emulator interface.
Players can import figure files or create supported virtual characters by name. However, Skylanders Imaginators Senseis still require files from the matching physical toys. The virtual Skylanders Portal of Power can support multiple items at once, including up to eight figures and magic items.
The update also adds microphone support for games such as SingStar, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero. ARMSX3 can use an Android device’s built-in microphone or a connected USB microphone. Additional options are available for two-player SingStar sessions and compatible Rocksmith guitar cables.
Several game-specific fixes are included as well. Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure has received a fix for an issue where the game could freeze after placing a figure. J-Stars Victory VS+ also benefits from improvements related to battle visuals and special attacks.
ARMSX3 is an unofficial Android port of the RPCS3 PlayStation 3 emulator, so performance will vary depending on the Android device, game, settings, and overall compatibility. The update adds notable new functionality, but it does not guarantee that every supported title will run smoothly.
For Batman: Arkham Origins fans, the biggest takeaway is clear: while the original online service is still gone, the multiplayer mode now has a new path back through Android emulation and community-hosted servers. For a game whose online mode disappeared in 2016, this update gives players a fresh reason to return to Gotham.
