Bambu Lab has introduced a new addition to its 3D printer lineup: the Bambu Lab X2D, an enclosed desktop 3D printer designed for cleaner printing, easier multi-material work, and stronger support for engineering-grade filaments. Priced at $649 (€629), it’s also offered in a $899 (€849) bundle that includes the AMS module, which can hold up to four filament spools for quick swaps and more flexible printing.
One of the biggest highlights is its dual-nozzle system. Even though the printer uses a single printhead, it includes a main nozzle plus an auxiliary nozzle that can dramatically simplify prints involving multiple filament types or multiple colors. That second nozzle can also be dedicated to printing support structures, making supports easier to remove and helping reduce the frustration that often comes with complex models.
Because the X2D is an enclosed 3D printer, it’s also built with air handling in mind. It features two air intakes and a multistage filtration setup that combines a HEPA filter with an activated carbon layer. The goal is to reduce odors and capture potentially harmful particles from the exhaust air, a welcome feature for users printing indoors or working with materials known for stronger fumes.
In terms of size, the X2D offers a 256 × 256 × 260 mm (10.08 × 10.08 × 10.24 in) build volume. Keep in mind that when both the main and auxiliary nozzles are used together, not every corner of that space may remain fully accessible. For most everyday prints, this likely won’t matter, but it could be a consideration for models that fill nearly the entire build area. The printer itself measures 392 × 406 × 478 mm (15.43 × 15.98 × 18.82 in), making it a relatively compact enclosed unit for its class.
Bambu Lab says the hardware is tuned for a wide range of filament options. The nozzles can reach up to 300°C (572°F), the chamber temperature goes up to 65°C (149°F), and the heated bed can hit 120°C (248°F). That combination supports popular materials like PLA and PETG, while also opening the door to tougher options such as ABS and carbon-reinforced filaments.
For usability, the X2D includes a touchscreen for straightforward control, along with two cameras to assist with monitoring and workflow. Overall, the Bambu Lab X2D positions itself as a capable all-around enclosed 3D printer for hobbyists and makers who want multi-material convenience, better support printing, and broader filament compatibility without jumping into a much higher price bracket.
