Devolver Digital and developer Kenny Sun are keeping their promise to BALL x PIT players with the game’s first major free update, and it’s arriving very soon. The new “Regal” update launches on January 26 for all platforms, expanding the action with fresh playable options and a bigger toolbox of ball-based chaos.
This update brings a substantial wave of new content, including new characters, new balls, new passives, and additional features that fans have been asking for since launch. If you’ve been looking for more ways to build strategies and shake up your runs, this is the kind of update that can make the game feel brand-new again.
Two new treasure seekers are joining the roster. First is The Carouser, a character built around returning balls that orbit around him, creating a unique defensive-and-offensive rhythm as your shots loop back into position. Then there’s The Falconer, who fights alongside two trusted falcons that throw balls, adding a distinct companion-style twist to how you attack and control the battlefield.
Alongside the new characters, the Regal update adds eight new balls plus several new passives, giving players even more build variety and experimentation potential. Devolver Digital also teased an additional surprise coming with the update, but they’re keeping that reveal under wraps for now.
BALL x PIT is available on Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5, and has been out since October 2025. The free Regal update arrives January 26, and it looks set to be the biggest reason yet to jump back into the pit.
