Ayn Odin 2 Portal Base Gets Indigo Color Option as Budget Handheld Stays on Sale
The Ayn Odin 2 Portal may no longer be the newest handheld in the company’s lineup, but it is still getting some attention. Nearly two years after its debut, the Android gaming handheld is now available in a fresh color for buyers looking at the most affordable model.
Ayn has confirmed that the Odin 2 Portal Base can now be purchased in Indigo, a color that was previously reserved for the more expensive Pro and Max versions. Until now, buyers who wanted the entry-level Base model were limited to Black.
The change comes at a good time for handheld gaming fans who want strong performance without paying for the newer Odin 3. While the Odin 3 offers more power, the Odin 2 Portal Base remains a capable option for Android gaming, cloud gaming, emulation, and media use.
When the Odin 2 Portal originally launched, it was offered in three configurations. The Base model came with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the Pro model included 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and the Max model featured 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The Indigo finish was available only on the Pro and Max models at launch.
That has now changed because Ayn reportedly has remaining Indigo shells for the Odin 2 Portal. Instead of leaving those unused, the company is applying them to the Base model. At the moment, the Base version is also the only Odin 2 Portal configuration still available, as the Pro and Max versions are currently out of stock.
The Indigo Odin 2 Portal Base is priced at $259, following a price increase that took place in June 2026. Buyers can still choose the Black version as well, but the new Indigo option gives the more affordable model a more premium look.
In terms of hardware, nothing else has changed. The Odin 2 Portal Base still features a 7-inch 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 800 nits of peak brightness. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The handheld also includes an active cooling system, an 8,000mAh battery, and charging support up to 27W. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, a USB 3.1 Type-C port with DisplayPort support, and a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
For controls, the Odin 2 Portal includes asymmetric thumbsticks with RGB lighting rings, two programmable rear buttons, and ABXY buttons in an Xbox-style layout. It runs Android 13 out of the box, making it suitable for Android games, game streaming services, and retro gaming apps.
The arrival of the Indigo color does not make the Odin 2 Portal Base faster, but it does make the entry-level model more appealing. For anyone searching for a powerful Android gaming handheld under $300, the Odin 2 Portal Base remains a strong contender, now with a color option that was once limited to the higher-end models.
