Ayaneo recently stirred excitement by unveiling the Pocket DS through two announcements. While it might resemble the Flip 1S DS, these devices cater to different market segments. The Flip 1S DS is part of a well-established line of Windows-based gaming handhelds. In a communication to subscribers, Ayaneo revealed that after concluding their Indiegogo campaign at the end of September, the Flip 1S models will become scarce. They emphasized that this is the last clamshell Windows handheld they’ll launch for at least a year. Once pre-orders are fulfilled, the availability of the Flip 1S will be limited, especially due to the high CPU cost. If you’re interested in this rare dual-screen version, now is the time to grab one at the early bird price on Indiegogo, or you might have to wait a year for another chance.
In contrast, the Pocket DS is part of Ayaneo’s emerging line of Android gaming handhelds. Announced in late July, its launch is set before September. Ayaneo has scheduled a special event on August 18 to reveal the Pocket DS’s price and features. The company seemingly intends to fund this project via Indiegogo, following the strategy used for the Flip 1S DS.
