Austrian Audio has introduced The Arranger, a new open-back, over-ear reference headphone aimed at listeners who care most about accuracy. Built for both studio professionals and serious audiophiles, The Arranger is designed to deliver neutral sound reproduction, fast transients, low distortion, and a spacious soundstage—qualities that matter when you’re mixing music, editing audio, or simply listening the way the artist intended.
The company itself has an interesting background. Austrian Audio was founded in 2017 by former AKG Acoustics engineers after that brand’s closure, and The Arranger reflects that pro-audio DNA with a focus on precision engineering and long-term durability.
At the core of The Arranger is a set of 44 mm drivers featuring DLC-coated diaphragms. Austrian Audio lists a wide frequency response of 5 Hz to 30 kHz, along with total harmonic distortion rated under 0.1%, a spec that points to clean playback even when music gets complex. The headphones use an open-back design, which many engineers and audiophiles prefer for a more natural presentation and better perceived width in the stereo image.
Power requirements should be friendly for a high-end reference model. With a 25Ω impedance and sensitivity rated at 110 dBspl/V, The Arranger is positioned to work well not only with dedicated headphone amplifiers and studio interfaces, but also with lower-powered audio sources.
In the box, Austrian Audio includes a 3-meter (9.8-foot) cable with a 3.5 mm (1/8-inch) connector, plus a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) adapter for easy use with common studio gear. For users who want more specialized connectivity, optional balanced cables are available, including Pentaconn and 5-pin XLR options for professional audio setups.
Build quality and comfort also receive attention. The frame uses metal construction, while the earpads are finished in soft suede. The headphone weighs 320 g (11.3 oz.) and measures 200 x 175 x 85 mm (7.9 x 6.9 x 3.3 in.). A standout feature for anyone thinking long-term: Austrian Audio says all major components are replaceable, helping extend the product’s lifespan—an increasingly important selling point in the premium headphone market.
