Audio-Technica Unveils ATH-TWX9MK3 Flagship Earbuds With Adaptive ANC and Hi-Res Audio
Audio-Technica is giving audio fans in Tokyo the first chance to experience its newest flagship true wireless earbuds, the ATH-TWX9MK3, ahead of their official retail release. The premium earbuds are making their public debut on November 7 at the Autumn Headphone Festival, followed by a separate in-store listening event in Akihabara on the same day.
First announced on November 5, the ATH-TWX9MK3 aims to deliver a more personalized listening experience through a new Fit-Adaptive noise cancellation system. Unlike standard active noise cancellation, this technology adjusts based on how each earbud fits inside the listener’s ear.
Audio-Technica says the system uses upgraded MEMS microphones to monitor fit changes and automatically fine-tune the noise-cancelling filters. It can even account for differences between the left and right ears, helping maintain consistent noise reduction even if the earbuds are positioned slightly differently.
The ATH-TWX9MK3 also brings upgraded sound hardware. At the center of the earbuds is Audio-Technica’s Pure Motion Driver Gen2, which uses a 5.8 mm driver with a beryllium-coated diaphragm. This design is intended to improve clarity, detail, and overall sound accuracy.
For listeners who want higher-quality wireless playback, the earbuds support the LHDC-V5 codec. When used with a compatible device, the ATH-TWX9MK3 can handle wireless audio transmission at up to 192 kHz/24-bit, making them a strong option for users who prioritize high-resolution audio in a compact true wireless design.
Battery life is another major highlight. With noise cancellation switched on, the earbuds are rated for up to 11 hours of playback on a single charge. The charging case extends total listening time to around 33 hours. If active noise cancellation is turned off, total battery life rises to as much as 45 hours.
The earbuds also feature an IPX4 splash-resistance rating, offering protection against light rain and sweat. That makes them suitable for commuting, everyday use, and casual workouts, although they are not designed for full water immersion.
Audio-Technica is offering two opportunities for visitors in Tokyo to try the ATH-TWX9MK3 before launch. The first demonstration will take place at the Autumn Headphone Festival on November 7, from 11 am to 6 pm JST, at Station Conference Tokyo. Admission is free.
A second listening event will be held the same day at a specialist audio retailer in Akihabara, running from noon until 6 pm. These events give potential buyers a chance to test the earbuds’ fit, sound quality, and adaptive noise cancellation before they become widely available.
The Audio-Technica ATH-TWX9MK3 is scheduled to launch in Japan on November 20. The earbuds will be available in black and beige, with a listed price of ¥41,800.
Customers who preorder or purchase through Audio-Technica’s official Japanese online store by November 27 can also receive a branded mini pouch with a carabiner, while supplies last.
