Audeze is back with a new flagship wireless gaming headset: the Maxwell 2. Building on the Maxwell headset first introduced in 2022, this updated model focuses on the two things gamers and audio fans care about most—clear communication and high-end sound—while also delivering the kind of battery life that makes charging anxiety a non-issue.
At the heart of the Audeze Maxwell 2 are ultra-thin 90 mm planar drivers designed for detailed, high-resolution audio. Audeze lists an impressive frequency range of 10 Hz to 50 kHz, alongside a total harmonic distortion rating of under 0.1% at 100 dB. In everyday terms, that points to clean output with tight control—useful for everything from pinpointing footsteps in competitive shooters to enjoying cinematic single-player soundtracks with richer depth.
For multiplayer and streaming-friendly voice quality, the headset includes a detachable hypercardioid boom microphone. It’s also backed by AI-powered background noise reduction, helping your voice cut through household noise, keyboard clatter, or room ambience so teammates hear you more clearly during intense matches.
Connectivity is another major highlight. The Maxwell 2 supports wireless audio via Bluetooth 5.3 and includes multiple modern codecs, including LC3, LC3plus, LDAC, AAC, and SBC. That wide codec support is great for users who bounce between platforms—like gaming on a console, taking calls on a phone, and listening to music on a laptop. Prefer a wired setup? You can also connect through USB-C or a traditional 3.5 mm cable, making it easy to plug into virtually any audio source.
Battery performance is one of the Maxwell 2’s standout features. Audeze rates the headset for up to 80 hours of wireless use per charge. Fast charging is included as well: about 20 minutes of charging can add roughly 25% battery, while a full charge takes around two hours.
Two versions are available, with platform-specific features that make them more appealing depending on your console of choice. The PlayStation version is priced at $329 and adds Tempest 3D spatial audio when used with a PlayStation system. The Xbox version costs $349 and includes Dolby Atmos support when paired with an Xbox. Both models also work across a wide range of devices, including PC and Mac computers, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, the Nintendo Switch 2, plus Android and Apple phones and tablets.
With planar drivers, extensive wireless codec support, strong voice features, and marathon battery life, the Audeze Maxwell 2 is positioned as a premium wireless gaming headset for players who want high-fidelity audio without sacrificing everyday convenience.
