Alongside potential new ROG Zephyrus gaming models, a new version of the Asus Vivobook S15 has now appeared in early performance testing—hinting at a notable processor upgrade that could make this popular mid-range laptop even more appealing.
A Vivobook S15 carrying the model name M5650GA has surfaced in Geekbench, revealing that Asus is preparing to add AMD’s Gorgon Point platform to its Vivobook options. At the moment, Asus sells its 15.6-inch Vivobook S15 with choices that include AMD Strix Point and Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors. This new listing suggests buyers will soon see another AMD configuration join the lineup.
The benchmark points to the AMD Ryzen AI 9 465, a 10-core processor expected to rank near the top of AMD’s Gorgon Point family—positioned just below the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470. The chip is paired with Radeon 880M integrated graphics, indicating this configuration is designed for a balance of everyday speed, creative workloads, and modern AI-powered features without requiring a dedicated GPU.
Interestingly, the early benchmark data suggests performance will be very close to what users already see from the Ryzen AI 9 365. In fact, the benchmark tool appears to misidentify the Ryzen AI 9 465 as part of the older Strix Point generation, reinforcing how similar these chips look on paper. The big change is expected to be on the AI side: the newer XDNA 2 neural processing hardware is believed to deliver a modest uplift, with AI performance rising by around 10% to roughly 55 TOPS. That kind of improvement won’t necessarily transform traditional CPU benchmarks, but it can matter more for on-device AI tasks such as background effects, smarter productivity features, and AI-assisted creative tools.
