Asus Unveils New XG Core Graphics Dock With AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT LP
Asus is preparing a new version of its XG Core external graphics dock, and this time the company is turning to AMD’s desktop-class Radeon RX 9060 XT LP GPU. The move could make the compact graphics solution an appealing option for users who want stronger gaming and creative performance without relying on a full-sized desktop PC.
The new XG Core uses the Radeon RX 9060 XT LP, a Low Power version of AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 XT. This variant was introduced in December 2025 and is designed to deliver solid performance while keeping power consumption lower than the standard model. The GPU operates at up to 140 W, which is around 12.5% less than the regular Radeon RX 9060 XT.
While the Low Power edition slightly reduces the Boost Clock from 3,130 MHz to 3,050 MHz, it keeps many of the key specifications intact. That includes 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, a 128-bit memory bus, and 20 Gbps memory speed. Together, these specs provide up to 320 GB/s of memory bandwidth, which should help with modern gaming, GPU-heavy workloads, and high-resolution display output.
The Radeon RX 9060 XT LP also includes 2,048 cores and 32 Compute Units, giving the Asus XG Core a strong foundation for graphics acceleration. For users with compatible laptops or compact systems, this could provide a noticeable boost in performance compared to integrated graphics or lower-end mobile GPUs.
Connectivity is another important part of the new XG Core. Asus says the graphics dock will communicate through USB4, making it easier to connect to supported devices with a single high-speed cable. The dock will then handle display output through DisplayPort or HDMI, allowing users to connect external monitors, gaming displays, or productivity setups.
The use of USB4 is especially interesting because it could make the XG Core more flexible than older proprietary external GPU solutions. If Asus delivers strong compatibility and stable performance, the new dock may appeal to gamers, creators, and professionals who want a portable system during travel but desktop-like graphics power at home.
AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 XT LP was previously expected to be offered mainly to OEM partners in China, so it remains unclear how widely Asus plans to release this XG Core model. Pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed.
For now, the Asus XG Core with Radeon RX 9060 XT LP looks like a promising external GPU dock that balances performance, efficiency, and compact design. If the final product is priced competitively, it could become a compelling upgrade for users looking to extend the life and graphics power of compatible laptops and small-form-factor PCs.
