Asus Unveils ProArt MD301 Mouse, Taking Aim at the Logitech MX Master 3S with Swappable Switches

Asus is giving creators and productivity power users a fresh alternative to the popular Logitech MX Master lineup with its upcoming ProArt Mouse MD301. First revealed at CES 2026, the mouse was initially shown with limited detail. Now, a newly released video offers a much closer look at what the ProArt MD301 is designed to do, and why it could be a strong contender for anyone who spends long hours editing, designing, or working across multiple apps.

The standout feature is versatility. Asus built the ProArt Mouse MD301 around a modular button system that lets users swap switches based on preference. You can choose optical switches, micro switches, or even mix the two, which is a rare approach in the productivity mouse category. For creatives who want a specific click feel for different tasks, or professionals who care about long-term durability, the swappable switch design could be a major draw.

Scrolling is another area where Asus is clearly targeting premium productivity users. The ProArt MD301 includes what the company calls a SmartShift Wheel, designed to let you tailor the scrolling behavior to your workflow. It supports both high-speed free-spin scrolling for quickly moving through long pages and documents, and line-by-line control for precision work. This kind of dual-mode scrolling is especially useful for video timelines, large spreadsheets, coding, and detailed creative tools.

On performance, Asus positions the MD301 as using a high-end sensor, even though it hasn’t named the exact model. The sensor is rated for up to 8,000 DPI, which provides plenty of sensitivity headroom for high-resolution displays and multi-monitor setups. The mouse also supports a 1,000Hz polling rate when used via USB or a 2.4GHz wireless connection, helping keep cursor movement responsive and smooth. Asus hasn’t shared polling rate details for Bluetooth mode, but it does emphasize broad surface compatibility, including tracking on glass.

To improve everyday comfort and movement, the ProArt MD301 uses low-friction PTFE feet, which should help it glide cleanly without feeling scratchy or resistant. Asus is also leaning heavily into ergonomics, stating the mouse is shaped to fit naturally in the hand for a comfortable grip during long sessions.

Weight is another practical advantage. The ProArt Mouse MD301 comes in at 99.7 grams, which Asus positions as lighter than the MX Master 3S. For users who are prone to wrist fatigue, that reduction could make daily work more comfortable, especially during extended editing or office work.

Other notable features include six programmable buttons for custom shortcuts and workflow commands, a battery life rating of up to 180 days, and fast charging support for quick top-ups. These are the kinds of quality-of-life additions that matter to professionals who rely on consistent gear every day.

As of now, Asus still hasn’t confirmed an official price or exact release date for the ProArt Mouse MD301. However, it’s still expected to arrive before mid-2026. With the new video showcasing more of its features, the MD301 is shaping up as a serious productivity mouse option for creators, designers, and anyone looking for a customizable ergonomic wireless mouse with premium scrolling and long battery life.
