This advancement opens the gateway for up to 256 GB of RAM using 64 GB CUDIMM DDR5 modules, all running smoothly at 5600 MT/s. This marks a substantial improvement from the previous limit of 4400 MT/s, which was only feasible with a 2x DIMM configuration.
The fierce competition among memory manufacturers has led to astonishing strides in DDR5 memory speeds, sometimes surpassing unprecedented thresholds of 10000 MT/s and even exploring the territories beyond 12000 MT/s with overclocking techniques. However, achieving higher memory capacities while maintaining such high frequencies remains challenging, especially with 4x DIMMs – a race that lacked major breakthroughs until now.
ASUS’s announcement includes support for 4x DIMM configurations on Intel 800-series motherboards, such as the Z890 and B860 models. This is made possible by utilizing the powerful combination of the Core Ultra Series 2 processor and the ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme motherboard. By integrating a 4x 64 GB Kingston memory kit, these devices can leverage the new AEMP III Profile to reach the coveted 5600 MT/s threshold.
This technology is currently exclusive to Kingston’s 64 GB CUDIMM DDR5 modules. Once users install these modules on compatible ASUS 800 series motherboards, the system’s BIOS will automatically activate the AEMP III feature within the AI Overclock Tuner setting. According to ASUS, this activation promises up to a 27% performance boost compared to the previous DDR5-4400 configurations, though specific benchmarks and application scenarios for these performance gains remain undisclosed.
One standout feature is the clock driver found on CUDIMMs, which enhances stability and offers a more seamless experience compared to standard DIMMs. With this advancement, mainstream users equipped with Intel-based desktop PCs can anticipate a boost in overall performance, making way for an experience akin to that of a professional workstation.
