Asus is expanding its 2026 TUF Gaming A14 lineup with a more affordable configuration that sits alongside the recently revealed model based on AMD’s Strix Halo platform. Designed as a budget-friendly alternative to premium 14-inch gaming laptops, this new version keeps the same clean, familiar TUF Gaming A14 look while swapping in different internal hardware to hit a lower price point.
The newly listed model carries the TUF Gaming A14 (2026) FA401GM name and pairs AMD’s latest Gorgon Point architecture with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. Visually, it’s essentially indistinguishable from the Strix Halo-based sibling (FA401EA), which should appeal to buyers who want the same design without paying for the higher-end platform.
At the heart of the FA401GM is the AMD Ryzen AI 9 465, supporting configurations with up to 32 GB of memory and up to 1 TB of storage. One of the key technical shifts compared with the closely related Ryzen AI 9 365 is memory speed: the Ryzen AI 9 465 platform supports faster 8,533 MT/s RAM instead of 7,500 MT/s, which can help in memory-sensitive workloads and may offer modest gains in certain games and creator apps.
Beyond the CPU and platform change, Asus keeps many of the core features that make the TUF Gaming A14 attractive for a portable gaming laptop. The FA401GM includes a 73 Wh battery and a 14-inch 2.5K IPS display with a 165 Hz refresh rate, a combination aimed at balancing sharp visuals with smooth gameplay. Storage flexibility is also a highlight, thanks to dual M.2 2280 slots, making upgrades easier for users who want to expand capacity later.
Asus hasn’t shared pricing or a release date yet, but the positioning is clear: the FA401GM is expected to be the cheaper 2026 TUF Gaming A14 option versus the Strix Halo variant, continuing the company’s pattern of offering multiple configurations under the same model family. For shoppers considering a compact 14-inch gaming laptop with RTX 5060 graphics, high-refresh 2.5K display specs, and upgrade-friendly storage, this new TUF Gaming A14 (2026) configuration is one to watch as availability details emerge.
