Asus ROG Strix XG27UCMG Launches With 4K 240Hz Display and Up to 488Hz Refresh Rate
Asus has officially started selling its new ROG Strix XG27UCMG gaming monitor in China, bringing a high-speed 27-inch display aimed at competitive gamers and 4K enthusiasts. The monitor is priced at CNY 3,499, which is roughly $515, and will be available in China starting July 31.
The biggest highlight of the Asus ROG Strix XG27UCMG is its Triple Mode technology. This feature lets users switch between three different resolution and refresh rate settings depending on the type of game they are playing. For sharp 4K gaming, the monitor supports 3840 × 2160 resolution at 240 Hz. For a balance between clarity and speed, it can run at 2560 × 1440 resolution with refresh rates up to 400 Hz. For competitive esports players who prioritize maximum responsiveness, the display can drop to Full HD at 1920 × 1080 and reach up to 488 Hz in overclocked mode.
The monitor uses a 27-inch Fast IPS panel, making it suitable for gamers who want strong motion performance without giving up color accuracy. Asus has also included Smart Pixel technology, which uses a 4K super-resolution algorithm to improve the appearance of lower-resolution games. This should help make games look sharper when running below native 4K resolution.
For visuals, the ROG Strix XG27UCMG supports VESA DisplayHDR 400 and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut along with 130% of the sRGB color space. These specs should appeal to users who want vibrant colors for gaming, streaming, and general media use.
Asus has also equipped the monitor with several gaming-focused technologies. It supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium, helping reduce screen tearing and stuttering during gameplay. ELMB Sync is included for improved motion clarity, while Variable Overdrive 2.0 is designed to deliver smoother performance across different frame rates.
The ROG Strix XG27UCMG also comes with AI-assisted gaming features, including AI Visual, Dynamic Crosshair, and Dynamic Shadow Boost. These tools are designed to automatically enhance visibility and improve the gaming experience, especially in fast-paced or darker scenes.
For connectivity, the monitor includes DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC, HDMI 2.1, and USB Type-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode. The USB-C port can carry both video and power through a single cable, making it useful for compatible laptops and other devices.
The stand offers a full range of ergonomic adjustments, including height, tilt, swivel, and pivot support. Users who prefer a cleaner desk setup can also mount the monitor using a 100 × 100 mm VESA wall mount.
Asus is offering one year of complimentary on-site service for buyers in China. However, the company has not yet confirmed pricing or availability for other regions.
While several Asus monitors have similar names and comparable resolution or refresh rate options, the ROG Strix XG27UCMG stands out because it uses a Fast IPS panel rather than an OLED display.
