A new Asus ROG NUC gaming mini PC has surfaced ahead of an expected May reveal, and the early details suggest Asus is leaning harder into its Republic of Gamers identity than ever.
From the leaked image, the first thing you’ll notice is the updated design language. The ROG branding is more prominent, paired with the familiar “For Those Who Dare” slogan. There are also signs the mini PC may feature an RGB-backlit ROG logo, a popular touch for gamers who want a setup that looks as powerful as it performs.
Asus also appears to have redesigned the included stand. Instead of a stand that screws into the chassis, the new version seems to cradle the mini PC, which could make it easier to place on a desk, move between rooms, or integrate into a tighter battlestation without fuss.
Where things get more interesting is what might be inside. Hardware upgrades haven’t been confirmed yet, largely because Intel hasn’t officially released its next wave of HX-class processors. Still, one strong candidate is the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, an Arrow Lake HX chip Intel announced in March. Based on benchmark expectations, that processor could deliver roughly a 6% performance boost compared to the Core Ultra 9 275HX found in the current ROG NUC 2025 model—an incremental but welcome uplift for a compact gaming desktop built to push high frame rates.
On the graphics side, the next Asus ROG NUC could also see a major refresh. The current generation tops out at a GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU, but the new model is rumored to expand the lineup to include options like the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB and even the GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU. If that happens, buyers could have a broader range of configurations—whether they want a more affordable entry point for modern AAA gaming or a no-compromise mini PC capable of maxing out demanding titles and creative workloads.
For now, the clearest takeaway is that an announcement is likely close. Reports indicate Asus may unveil the updated ROG NUC later this month in China, which fits the timing of the May launch chatter. If you’ve been waiting for a small-form-factor gaming PC that blends desktop-like power with a cleaner, more portable footprint, this upcoming ROG NUC refresh is one to watch.
