Asus Goes Global with a Blazing 1,300‑Nit OLED Gaming Monitor Built for 280Hz Speed

Asus is expanding its ultrawide OLED gaming monitor lineup with the ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS, a new model now rolling out internationally. Built for fast-paced PC gaming and immersive single-player experiences, this display keeps the same core ultrawide formula as its predecessor while delivering a notable speed boost and upgraded HDR punch.

The ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS features a 34-inch QD-OLED panel running at 3,440 x 1,440 resolution (WQHD) in a cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio. It also retains the 1800R curve, designed to wrap the screen into your peripheral vision for a more enveloping view—especially useful in racing games, flight sims, and open-world titles where an ultrawide field of view can make a big difference.

Where this new version stands out is refresh rate. The XG34WCDMS pushes up to 280 Hz, aimed at competitive gaming where smoother motion and lower perceived blur can help gameplay feel more responsive. On the HDR side, Asus lists up to 1,300 nits peak brightness in HDR mode, helping highlights pop more dramatically in supported games and media.

To improve viewing in brighter rooms, Asus also includes its BlackShield Film, which is intended to cut reflections and help maintain deeper-looking blacks—an important consideration for OLED displays when ambient light is present.

In terms of pricing and availability, Asus has set the ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS at AUD 1,499 in Australia, with shipments expected to begin on June 5. In the Eurozone, current pricing is reported to range between €849 and €926, depending on the market.
