Asus V500 Mini Tower brings quiet Ryzen performance in a compact wood-accented design
Asus is preparing to launch the V500 Mini Tower VM501MH, a compact desktop PC designed for users who want everyday performance, low noise, and a more stylish look than the typical office tower. With a modern design that includes a wood-inspired front accent, the V500 aims to fit neatly into home offices, living rooms, study spaces, and minimalist desk setups.
One of the most interesting choices in this mini tower is its use of an AMD Ryzen laptop processor instead of a traditional desktop CPU. This helps keep power consumption and heat output under control, making the system better suited for quiet operation. The chip has a 45-watt TDP, allowing the PC to deliver solid performance for daily tasks while keeping fan noise to a minimum.
Because Asus is using a laptop-class processor, the V500 Mini Tower relies on DDR5 SO-DIMM memory. In simple terms, it uses laptop-style RAM rather than full-size desktop memory modules. The system includes two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots, giving users some flexibility for future memory upgrades depending on the configuration and compatibility.
For connectivity, the Asus V500 offers a practical set of ports for everyday use. On the front, users get two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, making it easy to connect accessories, external drives, headsets, or mobile devices without reaching around the back of the PC.
The rear panel adds more options, including three additional USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1b, DisplayPort 1.4, and Gigabit Ethernet. This should make the V500 suitable for dual-display setups, wired networking, and standard desktop accessories. The inclusion of both HDMI and DisplayPort is especially useful for users who want to connect modern monitors or use the system in a productivity-focused workspace.
Storage is also upgradeable. The Asus V500 Mini Tower includes a second M.2 slot, allowing buyers to add another SSD after purchase. This is a welcome feature for users who may start with the base storage configuration but later need more room for documents, photos, videos, applications, or games.
The Asus V500 Mini Tower is expected to arrive in two main configurations. The first model is said to include an AMD Ryzen 5 220 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD, with an expected European price of €599, roughly $680. A second version with an AMD Ryzen 7 260, 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD is expected to cost €649, around $740.
Asus has not yet confirmed official US pricing or a precise release date. However, the V500 Mini Tower appears to be positioned as an appealing compact desktop for users who want a quiet, efficient, and upgradeable PC with a cleaner, more decorative design than many traditional small-form-factor systems.
With its Ryzen processor, DDR5 memory support, expandable SSD storage, front USB-C connectivity, and understated wood-accented styling, the Asus V500 Mini Tower could become a strong option for home users, students, and office workers looking for a compact desktop PC that balances performance, efficiency, and design.
