Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Unleashes a Massive New Update

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gets Massive Update 1.8.0 With New Game Plus, Extended Progression, and PS5 Pro Enhancements

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has received a major new update years after its original launch, giving fans a strong reason to return to Eivor’s Viking saga. Ubisoft has released Title Update 1.8.0, and the biggest addition is the long-awaited New Game Plus mode, one of the most requested features from the community.

With New Game Plus, players can start Eivor’s journey again while keeping their previously unlocked progression, weapons, gear, and equipment. This makes it easier to replay the story with a fully developed character while experimenting with different builds and combat styles. To make repeat playthroughs more exciting, each new run also increases the difficulty, giving veteran players a tougher challenge.

To unlock New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players must first complete the Holy Day quest in Hamtunscire. Once that requirement is met, the feature becomes available, opening the door to a fresh journey across England without losing hard-earned rewards.

Title Update 1.8.0 also introduces an optional Extended Progression Mode. This new system gives players more ways to continue improving their character and equipment beyond the usual limits. For those who have already spent hundreds of hours exploring Valhalla’s world, this addition adds more long-term progression and replay value.

Another welcome feature is the new equipment stash in Ravensthorpe. This should make inventory management smoother, especially for players who have collected large amounts of weapons, armor, and gear throughout the base game and expansions.

The Rune Forge has also been improved in a big way. The update adds more than 300 engravable runes, giving players greater freedom to customize their builds. A new Superior rune tier has also been introduced, offering even more options for fine-tuning combat performance.

High-level equipment progression has been expanded as well. Divine-quality gear can now be upgraded to level 27, allowing players to push their strongest items even further. Mithril has been added as a new upgrade resource, giving players another material to collect and use for enhancing their equipment.

As a bonus, all players can claim a free Master Assassin Naoe outfit inspired by Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This cosmetic addition gives Eivor a fresh look while connecting Valhalla to the wider Assassin’s Creed universe.

Players on PlayStation 5 Pro also receive a technical upgrade with support for PSSR 2. This should help improve image quality and overall visual performance on Sony’s upgraded console. Alongside this, the update includes balancing changes, bug fixes, and two new achievements for completionists to unlock.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Title Update 1.8.0 is available now as a free download on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Download sizes vary depending on the platform, with the update requiring around 5.26GB on PlayStation 5 and up to 15.02GB on Xbox Series X/S.

With New Game Plus, expanded progression, improved rune customization, new gear upgrades, and platform-specific enhancements, this is one of the most substantial updates Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has received. For returning players, it offers the perfect opportunity to step back into Eivor’s world and experience the Viking adventure all over again with new challenges and deeper customization.
