A user on Reddit revealed that their Ryzen 9 9950X3D stopped functioning just nine days after installation on an ASRock Pro RS X870 motherboard. Alarmingly, there were no visible signs of damage or overheating. Despite ASRock’s previous steps to address similar issues, including releasing a BIOS update, these problems persist, leaving users curious and concerned.

The Redditor, who used the latest BIOS version 3.20 and a Kingston FURY 64 GB RAM Kit running at 6000 MT, reported that the PC froze unexpectedly and refused to reboot. Interestingly, there was no involvement of EXPO or any manual overclocking, which rules out some common causes of such failures. Upon transferring the CPU to a different motherboard vendor’s system, the same issue persisted, pointing fingers firmly at the processor rather than the motherboard.

Thankfully, the fast action of the original Redditor meant they could return the CPU within the seller’s 14-day return window, sidestepping the cumbersome return merchandise authorization process. This particular incident echoes a previous case where the Ryzen 9 9950X3D experienced failure on an ASUS X870E Crosshair motherboard, again without any visible signs of damage.
