Intel is gearing up to make waves in the mobile computing arena with its upcoming Arrow Lake-HX CPUs, including the much-anticipated Core Ultra 7 255HX. Recently, this particular high-end CPU was spotted on Geekbench’s AI benchmarks, providing a sneak peek into its specifications and capabilities.
In an intriguing development, the Clevo X580 laptop, armed with the Core Ultra 7 255HX and a yet-to-be-named NVIDIA RTX 50 series laptop GPU, appeared in online performance tests, sparking interest among tech enthusiasts. While the showcased benchmarks centered more on the GPU than the CPU, this still sheds light on the powerful collaboration between Intel’s CPU and NVIDIA’s forthcoming GPU.
The Geekbench results for the NVIDIA GPU, although not officially named, point towards performance on par with what one might expect from an RTX 5050, based on a single precision score of up to 6500 points and a half-precision score reaching 15760 points. It is crucial to note that these figures reflect AI processing rather than gaming prowess, so the true gaming potential remains a topic of speculation.
Diving into the specifications of the Core Ultra 7 255HX, it boasts a robust 20-core configuration, featuring 8 performance cores and 12 efficient cores. These are paired with a base clock of 2.50 GHz, with the ability to reach speeds up to 5.2 GHz on the performance cores and 4.5 GHz on the efficient cores. Its Xe-LPG-based integrated GPU comes equipped with 64 execution units operating at a 1.9 GHz frequency.
Moreover, Intel’s lineup doesn’t stop there. An even more accelerated version, the Core Ultra 7 265HX, is in the wings, promising faster clock speeds. Meanwhile, the Core Ultra 9 series, comprising the 275HX and 285HX models, boasts a 24-core setup with up to 5.5 GHz maximum clock speeds. For users seeking more budget-friendly options, the Core Ultra 5 series with variants 245HX and 235HX offers a 14-core configuration.
The Arrow Lake-HX series seems poised to set a new standard for mobile CPUs, offering various choices to accommodate different performance needs. Whether for AI-driven applications or gaming ambitions with NVIDIA’s latest GPU offerings, this new CPU lineup presents intriguing possibilities for mobile technology enthusiasts eager to experience cutting-edge performance.
