Arm, renowned for its mobile processors, has ventured into the realm of upscaling technology with ASR, short for Accuracy Super Resolution. This state-of-the-art technology, introduced last year, promises to boost mobile game performance by an astounding 53%. Eager to facilitate easier integration for developers, Arm reiterated its commitment at the recent Game Developers Conference (GDC) by launching the open-source ASR experience kit for the Unreal Engine, a top-tier gaming engine preferred by major game developers. Unity, another leading game engine, will soon receive its version by year’s end.

FSR 2’s temporal upscaling method outshines its predecessor with improved speed, improved visuals, and notably, a 20% reduction in power consumption.
December’s unveiling showed ASR boosting performance by up to 53% over native resolutions, and a recent demonstration showcased an impressive 87% uplift in performance at a 2X upscaling setting on the Immortalis-G720 GPU. Developers and gamers alike can customize their experience by selecting upscaling options such as 1.5x, 1.7x, or 2x, balancing between visuals and performance.
